Dominic

A New Beginning

Determination and Support

For Dominic, life took an unexpected turn when he relocated to Phoenix to serve in the military reserve. Struggling with time management and unforeseen challenges, he found himself without stable housing.

For nearly a year, he relied on the kindness of friends, sleeping on couches when he could, to avoid the streets.

Through word of mouth, Dominic learned about Key Campus and decided to seek assistance.

Michael and Dominic

Perseverance

Determined to rebuild his life, he took the initiative to find employment, securing a job at with help from Tyler, the St. Vincent de Paul Workforce Case Manager for Key Campus. But even with a steady income, stable housing remained out of reach.

When Dominic returned to Keys to Change for housing support, he was connected with Outreach Specialist Michael P.—a dedicated advocate committed to making a difference.

Listening to Dominic’s story, Michael recognized his resilience and drive. With determination and the financial support of the Keys to Change flex funding program, Michael helped Dominic secure an apartment. After signing the lease, Michael handed Dominic the keys—a powerful moment marking the start of a new chapter in Dominic’s life.

For Dominic, this was the long-awaited reward for his perseverance.

For Michael, it was a deeply meaningful milestone—his first client successfully placed into permanent housing since joining the team in January.

Today, Dominic is thriving in the Valley, proving that with determination and the right support, a fresh start is possible. And for Michael, this experience solidified his purpose: helping the most vulnerable find stability and hope.
