PHOENIX, Ariz. (Aug. 24, 2022): Unsheltered individuals living on the streets around the Human Services Campus (HSC) are the focus of the next Project Connect, a concentrated one-day event connecting individuals experiencing homelessness to housing, shelter, benefits, identification and other basic needs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30
The most recent count of unsheltered individuals in the neighborhood surrounding the campus is 772. In addition, there are 900 people sheltered on the campus every day.
The event will take place in the parking lot on the northwest corner of 12th Avenue and Madison, just east of the building with the “You Are Amazing” mural.
Guests will be able to meet with professionals providing employment services, medical care, clothing, personal care items, spiritual support, family and legal services, behavioral health, substance abuse services, domestic violence resources, temporary shelter and veteran benefits.
Volunteers will help guide guests through the event and provide support alongside HSC staff. COVID tests and vaccines will be available.
“Project Connect extends the services provided on the Human Services Campus deeper into the community to help move people from street to home,” said Human Services Campus (HSC) Executive Director Amy Schwabenlender. “Project Connect takes these resources into communities to where people are experiencing homelessness.”
Previous Project Connects were set up in Tempe, West Phoenix, and Surprise.

Nonprofit agencies committed to the one-day event include Human Services Campus, Circle the City, St. Joseph the Worker, St. Vincent de Paul, Central Arizona Shelter Services, Community Bridges, Social Security/SOAR, Catholic Charities MANA House, Basic Mission, City of Phoenix, Salvation Army, Church of the Palms, Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care, Kiip, Andre House, True Connect Wireless, Department of Economic Security and Arizona Motor Vehicle Division.
