WHAT
- Key Campus (formerly Human Services Campus) holds an Open House Event to invite donors, city, county, and state leaders, and community partners on May 21st, 2:00-5:00pm to showcase major renovations.
- Key Campus opened its gates in 2005 and is in its 20th year serving the local unhoused community.
- Projects funded through an investment of $7.5 million from the Maricopa County Industrial Development Association (MCIDA).
- First-of-its-kind cooling tower donated by City of Phoenix to create innovative solution to extreme heat.
- Renovations include an updated outdoor plaza that spans multiple acres and features new paths to promote accessibility, and desert landscaping to provide shade and reduce operating costs.
- Projects completed to date: Key Campus Plaza and Cooling Tower.
- Projects nearing completion: New Key Campus Administration Offices and way-finding infrastructure.
- Additional planned projects include expansion of Welcome Center, interior updates to Lodestar Day Resource Center, and conversion of current Administration building for additional program space.

WHY IT MATTERS

- “Key Campus founder Mike McQuaid envisioned a dignified, accessible, collaborative space where anyone experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County could connect with the services they need. 20 years later, I know he’d be amazed to see the beautiful new Plaza and the total transformation of what was a warehouse acting as a men’s overflow shelter,” says Amy Schwabenlender, CEO of Keys to Change. “In a time of uncertainty, these renovations send a message to our unhoused neighbors that no matter how tides shift, that we’re here with them, working alongside them to end their homelessness. And we’re not going anywhere until everyone has a home.”

- Keys to Change, a 501c3 nonprofit agency, owns and operates a 13-acre campus at 12th Avenue and Madison that is home to 13 nonprofit organizations providing services and resources to help people end their homelessness.
