MARYVALE, Ariz. (June 17, 2025): Individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness in and around Maryvale will connect with a range of services and resources during Project Connect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24th at the Maryvale Church of the Nazarene, 3201 N. 51st Ave in Phoenix. This is the first time Project Connect will be hosted at this location.
Approximately 200 guests are expected at the event organized by Keys to Change, in collaboration with many of the nonprofit and government partners on the 13-acre Key Campus near downtown Phoenix. Dozens of volunteers are needed, and pre-registration is required. Link included here: https://mobilize.us/s/VjDqt3
Guests will have the opportunity to connect with professionals offering shelter assistance, mental health support, state benefits, job search guidance and preparation, as well as support for replacing vital records and identification. Additionally, guests will have access to meals, clothing, hygiene supplies, and heat relief.
“Between the weekly data that we gather at Keys to Change, and the larger trends observed in the recently-published 2025 Maricopa County Point-In-Time count, the picture is clear: homelessness is a regional issue,” says Keys to Change CEO Amy Schwabenlender. “Because it’s a mobile pop-up event, the Project Connect model allows us to respond quickly and effectively to regional shifts, to engage new people with services to end their homelessness or prevent it entirely.
“This will be the first event we host in Maryvale, and based on current outreach efforts, we’re prepared to serve up to 200 people on June 24th. This is what it looks like to meet people where they are.”
The host site for this event is Maryvale Church of the Nazarene. “We seek the peace and prosperity of our city and we pray to the Lord for the residents of our community to prosper and flourish,” says Pastor Dan Flemming, paraphrasing from a passage the book of Jeremiah in the Bible. “We envision a renewed Maryvale community…vibrant with healthy families.”
“Project Connect allows those with the heart for service to put their compassion into action,” adds Schwabenlender. “We’re grateful to the host site and to our volunteers for being willing to walk the walk to create meaningful change in our neighbors’ lives.”
