PHOENIX, Ariz. (Feb. 2, 2021): The Human Services Campus (HSC) is launching its annual water-collection drive earlier this year. The first drop-off event is planned from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Harrison Street Gate at 1300 W. Harrison near downtown Phoenix.
“Because CDC guidelines for distancing and sanitation prevent us from offering refillable water stations, we need to ensure that we have enough bottled water, which is essential for individuals experiencing homelessness,” said HSC Development Director Steve Davis. “The process is easy: drive up to the donation drop-off point, pop the trunk and our team will do the rest.”
Davis said that HSC team members are distributing around 2,000 bottles of water a day.
He added that donations of hygiene items are always accepted. These include toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, new socks and underwear, adult diapers (pull ups) and facemasks. Other needed items include trash bags, exam gloves (nitrile, powder-free, 15 ml thick), tents at least 84-inches long, sleeping bags, adult pillows, sunscreen, hats, visors, sunglasses, lip balm and aloe burn gel.
Community members interested in participating in the drive can visit the HSC Wish List or make an online donation to help cover the cost of the needed items at the HSC website, www.keystochangeaz.org.
HSC, a 501c3 nonprofit agency, owns and operates a 13-acre campus at 12th Avenue and Madison that is home to 16 nonprofit organizations providing services and resources to people experiencing homelessness.
