PHOENIX, Ariz. (April 28, 2022): The Human Services Campus (HSC) plans monthly Thirst Aid water drives on the first Saturday of each month beginning May 7 through September from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The collection location is near the Harrison Street Gate at 1300 W. Harrison in Phoenix. HSC staff and volunteers will unload all donations.
“We’re on the edge of the soaring summer heat, and we want to be sure we have enough water for the people experiencing homelessness both on and around the Human Services Campus,” said HSC, Inc. Development Director Steve Davis. “Our campus partner St. Joseph the Worker started Thirst Aid a number of years ago and felt it was an effort from which the entire Human Services Campus could benefit,”
HSC, a 501c3 nonprofit agency, owns and operates a 13-acre campus at 12th Avenue and Madison that is home to 16 nonprofit organizations providing services and resources to people experiencing homelessness.
Donations of hygiene items are always accepted. Urgent seasonal needs include deodorant, adult underwear and socks (new and in packages), electrolyte packs and sunscreen, hats, visors, solid grey bandanas (no patterns), sunglasses, lip balm, aloe burn gel and insulated water bottles (half-gallon size are preferred).
Community members interested in participating in the drive can visit the HSC Wish List or make an online donation to help cover the cost of the needed items at the HSC website, www.keystochangeaz.org.
