COVID19 – April 1 – Update
Key Updates:
Collaboration in Action!
As of this writing, we are not aware of any employees or clients who have tested positive for COVID-19, however we continue to evolve and adapt to ensure the greatest level of health and safety for our clients.
- Nearly 50 people are now sheltered in the Lodestar Day Resource Center day room. We send a big thanks to Community Bridges (CBI) for helping HSC to staff this temporary program 24/7. To ensure basic hygiene needs are met, HSC added mobile showers for these clients and others to use. Meals are being shared from Andre House and St. Vincent de Paul. And our cross-partner team is working to find permanent homes for these people as fast as we can.
- HSC is providing ten porta-lets in the Client Parking Lot to meet the shifting demand due to the Day Room not operating as day room for the time being.
- Maricopa County delivered a 12-sink mobile unit last Friday that is set up on 12th Avenue in front of the Brian Garcia Welcome Center. This provides a hygiene station for anyone who is unsheltered in the area, as well as all individuals that access the Campus throughout the day. Thank you Maricopa County!
- And we are also grateful to CBI for staffing the Brian Garcia Welcome Center every night from 7 pm to 5 am to allow our unsheltered neighbors access to bathrooms.
Our needs keep shifting, and we thank individuals and the philanthropic community for providing much-needed financial support. With the uncertainty over the duration of this pandemic, we will send an email update weekly and continue to share our most urgent needs. The community response is heartwarming!
On behalf of all of our employees and clients, we thank you. Stay safe and healthy!
